Nuotionahkajäkälä levittää hulmuavan viittansa palaneelle ja paljaalle maaperälle. Toisinaan sen kyllä löytää puiden tyvien sammalikostakin. Tämä haltiaystävä on kotimme kipinävahti: se huolehtii takkatulen loimusta ja lämmöstä.

Freckle Pelt Lichen

Freckle Pelt Lichen spreads its fluttering cape on the burnt and bare soil. Sometimes it can also be found in the moss at the base of trees. This elf friend is our home’s spark keeper: it takes care of the glow and warmth of the fireplace.

Luoto (Islet)

Luoto on kaunis sana. Luoto minulla tuli mieleen kivestä, jonka löysin lähimetsästä. Ajatuksissani näin pienen hahmon istumassa yksin tuolla luodolla. Kivelle istahti mietteinen merikotka, joka on jättänyt jälkeensä märät jäljet. Kivi itsessäänkin muistuttaa jo jalanjälkeä.

Finnish word ’luoto’ (islet) is a beautiful word. A stone I found in the wood reminded me about luoto (islet). In my mind I saw a small figure sitting alone on that islet. A pensive sea eagle perched on the rock leaving wet tracks behind. The stone itself already resembles a footprint.

Kääpäkuningatar

Kääpäkuningatar saapuu paikalle aina silloin, kun puun aika on täytetty tässä maailmassa. Hänet saattaa löytää istumasta syvässä hiljaisuudessa, varsinkin vanhoista aarniometsistä. Hänellä on kyky lähettää viestejä kaikkialle leviävän sienirihmastonsa avulla; sitä voisi jopa kutsua yhdeksi maailman vanhimmista ”nettiverkoista”.

Queen of Fungus

When the lifespan of a tree is fullfilled in this world, Queen of Fungus will appear. You may find her sitting in deep silence, especially in the old primeval forests. She has ability to send messages via her all around spreading mycelium; you could call this mycelium as one of the oldest ”webs” in the world.

Naava & Seven Heaven

Naava (Usnea) ja Seven Heaven ovat metsien suojelijoita. Naavan voi löytää sieltä, missä metsä voi hyvin ja ilma on puhdasta. Naavan seurassa kulkee usein 77mm pitkä Seven Heaven, joka huolehtii metsän pienen pienistä yksityiskohdista, joilla on kuitenkin suuren suuri merkitys koko luonnon harmonian kannalta.

Usnea & Seven Heaven

Naava (Usnea) and Seven Heaven are the protectors of forests.
You can find Usnea where ever forest is healthy and clean. A tiny elf, Seven Heaven (hight: 77mm), loves keeping Usnea company. Seven Heaven takes care of all the little details of forest, yet this has a great impact on the whole harmony of nature.

Taivaan tuulten lähettiläät

Aina syksyisin mahtavien tammien oksistoissa valmistautuu joukko uusia Taivaan tuulten lähettiläitä (SkyDIVINErs) hyppäämään kohti maata, jotta ne voisivat kasvaa yhtä uljaiksi kuin niiden viisas kotipuu. Lähettiläät odottavat sopivaa hetkeä, hyvää tuulta, jotta lehtivarjo kannattelisi ne turvallisesti maan syleilyyn.

SkyDIVINErs

Every autumn among the branches of giant oaks a group of new SkyDIVINErs are preparing to jump on the ground, so that they could grow as brave as their wise home tree. The SkyDIVINErs are waiting for the right moment, good winds, so they could land with their parachute leaves safely into the arms of mother earth.

Mossyt

Nämä sormenmittaiset sammaltajat, Mossy-sorminuket, tuntevat olevansa aina hyvissä käsissä metsän siimeksessä. Mossyn osuessa polullesi, on hyvinkin mahdollista, että se hyppää kämmenellesi, kietoutuu lämpimästi sormesi ympärille ja totta kai – –
alkaa kertoa mitä ihmeellisimpiä tarinoita.

Mossy finger puppets

These finger sized creatures, Mossy finger puppets, are in good hands among the forest. If one of them happens to cross your path, it is quite obvious that it jumps on your balm, wraps warmly around your finger and of course – – starts to tell the most wonderful stories.

Tää on mun puu

This Is My Tree I-III -miniveistokset olivat osana Tree Dimensions -kokonaisuutta, jonka esittelin vuonna 2016 kansainvälisillä taidemessuilla Oxfordissa, Englannissa.

Teosten pohjana olevat puukiekot ovat vuorimännystä, jonka vanhempani istuttivat syntymälleni. Vuonna 2011 talvimyrsky katkaisi vuorimännystä ison oksan ja isäni sahasi siitä puukiekkoja minulle. Vuorimänty on minun puuni, vaikka totuushan on se, että puu kuuluu puulle itselleen ja samalla se on monenlaisten olentojen, kuten puun haltioiden koti. Kanssani lähes samanikäinen vuorimänty on edelleen pystyssä ja voi hyvin.

This Is My Tree

’This Is My Tree I-III’ mini sculptures were part of ’Tree Dimensions’ collection which I introduced in 2016 at International Art Fair in Oxford, England.

The wood disks are from a mountain pine which my parents planted for my birth. A big branch snapped off the tree by a winterstorm in 2011. My father made me wood disk of the branch. The mountain pine is my tree even the truth is that the tree belongs to itself and it also offers home for many creatures such as tree spirits. The tree which is almost as old as I am is still standing on its roots and feeling well.

The new sculptures bellow are a continuum for ’This Is My Tree’ series I started in 2016.
