LINTU-UKON TARINA

Olen jo jonkin aikaa tarkkaillut tonttimme laidalla sijaitsevaa isoa kiveä ja kiven päällä olevaa kulmikasta betonimöykkyä, joka on kenties entinen lipputangon tukijalka. Möykkyä ja kiveä peittää kaunis sammal. Olen odottanut oikeaa hetkeä luoda hahmon tuon muinaista linnanrauniota muistuttavan möykyn päälle.

Marraskuussa 2022 lapioidessani kivipuutarhamme ympärille polkua, löysin mullan seasta hyvää savea, josta Lintu-ukko (Birdman) sai alkunsa. Savi on Lintu-ukon tarinan alku. Savi on myös Lintu-ukon tarinan loppu.

Polttouunia kun ei ole, laitoin otuksen ensin saunan jälkilämpöön ja sen jälkeen vielä aamutakan hehkuun kuivumaan. Metsästä löysin myrskytuulen pudottaman naavaisen oksan. Naavasta sai hyvän mohikaanin Lintu-ukolle.

Kun tuli aika siirtää Lintu-ukko betonimöykyn päälle, sain huomata, että yksi sen kulmista myötäili lähes täydellisesti Lintu-ukon muotoja: tuntui kuin se olisi aina istunut siinä – meditoimassa nokka kohti metsämaisemaa.

THE STORY OF BIRDMAN

November 2022 I started to shoot photos of a new creature which is made of clay. The clay came on the surface as I was digging a path around our stone garden. The clay is the beginning of the story of Birdman (Lintu-ukko) and the clay will be the end of his story too. I don’t have a burning oven, so I let the afterheat of sauna dry him a bit – – And after sauna he stayed for a day at the fireplace enjoying the afterheat of morning fire.

While walking in the woods I found a branch with a long beard moss. After a storm you could find many branches lying on the ground. The beard moss was a perfect mohawk for Birdman.

I placed the fellow on a big mossy stone. On the top of the stone is an old concrete blob, maybe for a flagpole. The blob reminds me of the ruins of an ancient castle. It was funny to see how well Birdman sat on one of its corners – as if it had always been there watching the forest view.

Tänä sumuisena päivänä Lintu-ukon luona kävi pikkulintuja. Yhdestä sain melkein kuvan, mutta en onnistunut pitämään kameraa tarpeeksi vakaana, joten kuvasta tuli sumea. Ehkä myöhemmin onnistunut ottamaan kuvan pikkulinnusta yhdessä Lintu-ukon kanssa.

This foggy day little birds visited Birdman. I almost catched a photo of one of them, but I couldn’t hold my camera steady enough, so the photo became blur. Maybe later I manage to take a photo of a little bird with Birdman.
